Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind is a national charity developed to helping people who are blind or visually impaired and families of children with autism to achieve improved mobility and independence.
The National centre for training these dogs is located on the Model Farm Road in Cork City. Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital has been the principle veterinary consultants to Irish Guide Dogs for over 30 years. In that role, they visit the centre regularly to carry out fitness checks on all dogs that are entering the training scheme, deal with all isssues relating to the health and welfare as they arise from day to day, as well as support and advice in all veterinary matters.
Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital is a recognised centre of excellence and apart from first opinion consultations, provides specialist services in the areas of orthopaedics, soft tissue and spinal surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology and diagnostic imaging.
We, at Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital, are proud and privileged to provide these services to the Irish Guide Dogs Association over the last 30 years.
